The St Louis Blues first became members of the NHL or National Hockey League in 1967 when they joined. This team has held some of the most impressive players throughout history on the roster. The teams of long ago and the teams of more recent years have all had impressive players that were known as some of the best in the league.

Some of the original hockey stars that were a part of the team have included Jacques Plante, Doug Harvey, Glenn Hall, and Dickie Moore. While more recent hockey stars have featured Wayne Gretzky, Peter Stastny, Dale Hawerchuk, and Brett Hull. In addition to great and memorable players the team has also had memorable and great owners.

Some of the most famous co-owners of them were Emile Francis and Lynn Patrick who were most famous for their role as architects. There were famous team builders who helped them to soar to great heights especially Jimmy Devellano and Cliff Fletchen. Then Scotty Bowman, Al Arbour, Jacques Demers, and Scotty Bowman served their time coaching and bringing in many victories.

Success has been felt even without a Stanley Cup win. However the downside to success is that tragedy is felt harder including the loss of loved players, sports casters, and coaches to tragedy and death. Therefore when the team has pushed on their pride has swollen and they have had a perseverance that others might not have felt.

One noticeable change in the history is that the mood seems to change frequently with the owners of the time. Some of these individuals chose to rule with an iron fist and these were years where there was not as much enjoyment. Others seemed to rule by spoiling and showing off what they were proud of which equates to years of happiness and fun.

In most conditions the owners have worked well together when there was more than one owner. However from 1971 until 1977 there was a time of turmoil and unrest amongst the owners until one eventually left, leaving only one. It was also at this time that there was financial issues that threatened the very existence of the team from 1976 until 1983 at which time the doors actually closed to the stadium and it seemed that there would be no more.

Soon after in 1983, even though they were not able to participate in the draft that year, the Blues were up and running under new ownership. During this time things became profitable and once again an industry leader was born. Plus the spirit that has gone along with these changes has led many fans in the city and elsewhere to feel pride and happiness in a team that was once failing.

So it can easily be seen why a St Louis Blues fan is completely different from most sports fans. They have been through the good, bad, ups and downs with their team and continue to have pride in what could have been. There is no reason to predict anything but a positive future at this time.
